T H A N K...........Y O U !

Hey Guys !
Many thanks for your good replies to my "Hunt" for info.  I hope we can maintain the dialog as you see fit.   It is good to see the oft-repeated themes and ideas shared.  Bet there are load more. . .;-)

I suspect it will take a long time for the active homophobes to be converted.  Don't be fooled by "the convenient vaneers" we often see among the "oh-so-politically-correct". . . They live on. . .they live on.  And you will see this from groups like the various T-parties emerging.   haha

As for me running out of work. . .well sure, the current group of young gays roaming around will grow. . .there may be fewer to replace them, but these are the ones we want to assist. . .a boost in growth.

For sure I do not plan to work only with gay folk. . .a gay therapist is often just what a str8 guy/couple needs  to help them step back and away out of the "problem" to get a different perspective.  Hearts always need a little assist.  ;-)

Thanks again, gents.

COOPs. . ..what's to worry about? huh?
I don't see what you say offensive: you're merely reporting fact and adding your own personal feelings in this. You have right to do so.

Your feelings/ideas are just as valid as anyone else's. . .I have similar feelings. . .I don't lisp, flip wrists or wear 'panties' and I HATE being lumped in with the Jacks and Sals and Whozzits who do.
Don't make universal statements out of certain peculiarities. Right?

In Montreal, Quebec, just north of the border, Gay Pride is called
Divers Cites. . .Diversity/different cities. . .Can we make room for every body in the Tent of Many Colors?

Coop,
I too am worried that I may come across as someone who hates people that have lith-ping winey-fake gay voices and other (comically?) gay characteristics.

I don't hate them at all. I just don't like them. I just don't like the fact that I may be labelled along with them and be seen as something to poke fun and contempt at.

So, I too have been guilty of sounding hateful towards that limp-wristed set, the obvious stereotypical gay.

I don't hate.
I don't hate anyone or anything.
I dislike and I disaprove, but do not hate. That is my OPINION, not fact.
There is no room for hate.

As perfect as I am (lol) I need to project a little more tolerance, otherwise I am as bad as the gay-hating straights out there.
(I don't hate them either, I just think they are unfortunate for what they are missing)

There, I think we've got the record straight...and even this conversation has taught me something about myself...thanks Justin, thanks for being here and presenting this oppotunity for me to think, to learn, to express myself.

I think flamboyant gays who lisp and use extravagant hand gestures are hilarious! What would the world be without them! I love to mimick them occasionally when I wanna make a particular point.

Let's not underestimate the worth of eccentrics. If it weren't for eccentrics, the human race would be BORING.

More power to eccentrics. We need you guys to remind us how to laugh.

Haha Coop, glad to hear where you buy your undies....lol. Me too.

After reading your post I got to thinking....again...it's habit-forming....lol
Yeah, I should say I do not think anything less of the stereotypical gay more than I think of anyone person who outwardly and actively puts on a stereotype mantle...and there are many out there.
For example; the gold chain wearing studly types who think they are god's gift to women, young pierced spikey-haird punkish types, pasty longish-haired emo boys and girls, tattoed quiff-headed Elvis lookalikes, etc, etc...

Why do we humans need to belong, to conform, to be a part of the herd?....but then on the other hand we say we want to be individual?

These active-seeking-stereotypes seem to want it both ways (no, I don't mean like THAT! haha)....they seem to want to be different and on the other hand, be part of one of the parts of the crowd, if you know what I mean.

It seems like they want to stand out while belonging....weird shit.

Yes, I did have a casual fling for a while with a 'nancy-guy', he had 'the voice' and was all into doing stuff that females like to do...cooking, curtains etc...but he was fun, we had some good times. But being a straight-acting person (not out of fear, it's just who I am) I did have a bit of trouble trying to explain him to my straight friends who I am not out to. It got too hard, so to speak.

Yep, I'm a bit like you, 'the one' has simply not come along yet....well, one has, but he is married and definitely straight....don't ask how I know...hee hee. But he is my closest friend, has been for many years and we do understand each other. Not a perfect relationship by any means, but it works for me..and him.
All I can do is dream...ahhh...

Ah yeah, another thing I don't get is the bit where some gays seem to believe that if they are gay, ie not completely male hetero, then they should affect female characteristics and expressions etc...just like you mentioned where they refer to each other as ladies.
Why? They are not female, not feminine, they are gay males.
I do not see where the comclusion that if you re not 100% hetero male then you are part female.
It just does not make sense to me.
Why do people assume that if you are not 100% one then you MUST be part of the other.

Males are not the opposite of females and females are not reversed or opposite of males, they are people, full stop.
Its not as simple as "if you are not white then you must be black"...there are lots of other colours....hmm ...is that why we have the gay rainbow?....lol

Sorry, I too am rambling.
Goodnight all,

Greg in Adelaide

Dear Greg in Adelaide. . . .Yes, you got thru. . .at least 9 times. . hahaha. .

When I come online I saw 14 posts to be approved: and most of them were yours reaffirming your joys at where Coop buys his undies, hahahaha

I've been having some trouble with Google this week. . . let THEM work it out. . .they're bigger than me. LOL

I make no effort to hide that I am gay. Yet, everyone I meet is surprised when they find out. So obviously I don't fall into the limp wristed club either. I learned as a young child to adapt to my surroundings. So, with each of my jobs, you will see a different side of me. Ever changing. I encourage anyone to be themselves, but act appropriately.
And when the occational negative comment comes my way, I choose to not accept it. Just because someone gives you their hate, doesn't meen that you must accept it.

And just for fun & to blow away the stereotypes, I have a straight friend that is married AND has a girlfriend that likes to walk around with his chest hair showing, wearing a red bra and panties. To complete the picture, he's in his mid fifties and has a beard. And yes, his girlfriend likes it.
You may throw up now.

Aheeemmmm. . . .err.... aaahh... could I ask a question?

Maybe we are straying - unwittingly - into gay-bashing. . ? We all know how easily, to prove a point, we might move over the line. . .and that is not what we all want. Right.

Thanks
justin

'scuse me. . .i am gonna slip into something 'mindful'. . . hahahaha

Hmmm, in answer to your question Justin, no I don't think we are gay-bashing.
I read and re-read those posts and can't see it myself.

Myself, I consider the crew gathered here on your blog to be gay-friendly and it seems to me that we are freely expressing ourselves. I could not read anything nasty or narrow-minded into what anyone has said so far. But let me just re-read it all again before I finish, to see what I've missed........

Nope, still can't see it.

The only people I am can perhaps be accused of 'bashing' are those that feel the urge to make themselves into a caricature of some image they like....emos, bikies, Elvis-look-alikes and limp-wristed gays included.

But I'm not, I simply don't understand them and am happy to be tolerant of them.

Cheers,
Greg in Adelaide (message sent only once this time lol)
